The final design phase of my master’s thesis. This project uses design concepts and ideas drawn from Shakespeare’s Tempest and the earlier studies to enhance and expand an aging library in the Waverly neighborhood of Baltimore City.

• Consolidating program into super-tall buildings of massive scale to allow for more open, usable, human-scaled spaces at ground level

• I attended a weeklong workshop in the traditional pottery center of China. My main project was creating a three-dimensional version of a triply periodic minimal surface in ceramics. (The original surface, Schoen’s Unnamed Surface 12 is described by Ken Brakke of Susquehanna University on his informative page about minimal surfaces.)

• Project proceeded from a syntax model that guided the final form and configuration of the project.
